In 2023 SPOT officially joined Absolute Bikes to help organize and sponsor the 16th annual Ride Right and Helmet Program at Longfellow Elementary School in Salida. The program focuses on bicycle safety with instruction coming from members of the Salida Police and Fire Departments. The students learn to use the left, right and stop hand signals, how to negotiate through stop and yield intersections, how to maneuver around barricades, and how to balance through an area marked for slow traffic. During the program, each 4th grader receives and is fitted with a free bike helmet by a SPOT volunteer and is given a free bicycle bell. Additional sponsors include the Chaffee County Community Foundation, Team Evergreen, Monarch Community Outreach, and SuCasa Furniture and Sleep Shop.
